Will there be a Mac version?
I have no way to test on Mac, so even though RPG Maker MV lets me export for Mac, I don't want to leave a public release that I (or someone I know) can't execute.
But honestly if you send me an email I can export it for you, it's no biggie, I simply don't take responsibility on it working well. If someone commits to testing these versions for me (like it happened with Linux), I don't mind uploading them in public either.
The game looks blurry in fullscreen, is it normal?
Yes. The game is made to be played in its original resolution, and when you fullscreen it, most screen resolutions aren't big enough to have it exactly twice its original size, in which case the pixel art would look wrong. So it's better for it to look blurry than for it to look deformed, in my opinion (and if you know other games that do this and it turns out fine, you can blame RPG Maker).
That said, if your screen resolution is huge (bigger than 1080p) you can always use the Windows magnifier and play it double size.
I got a warning when I opened the game, are you trying to give people viruses?
This happens because I'm not paying anyone to have my exe recognized, nor I have it on Steam. I promise you that I wouldn't have put this much effort in all these assets and website if I only wanted to give you a virus, but you're gonna have to trust me (or whoever has played it before you).
The game doesn't work! What do I do?
You can ask me via email (or social media) in case it's a bug I can fix, but it's also very possible that it's a weird RPG Maker error that I have no clue how to fix. In that case I would advice you to ask in RPG Maker communities. If I find common errors and their solution I will put them here, though.
Will it be on Steam?
If you give me the money it takes to publish all 4 chapters, maybe I will put it in there.
I found a typo.
Tell me, please. I will die if I don't fix the typos.
(You can contact me on social media or via email, they're at the bottom of this website).
Fancontent
Can I make fanart? Fanfic?
Yes!
Even if it's a fanart or a fanfic that you wouldn't personally like?
Yes. I'm a firm advocate of freedom in fan content. If whatever you make is not to my liking, I will ignore it and call it a day. If you make it offensive on purpose then I will dislike you, but I probably won't be doing anything more than blocking you on social media.
Can I make a fangame?
Yes!
Can I use your assets for a fangame / an original game?
If it's a fangame: Yes. It must be a free game, clearly marked as fangame, and you should credit me as "CeciDibujera (BF Project)".
If it's not a fangame: Yes, but with some conditions. It must be a free game and you must credit me and my game, like "CeciDibujera (BF Project)". With free I mean that people need to pay to play your game, I don't mind if you receive donations or have your YouTube or Twitch account monetized.
- Music: Yes, with the conditions stated above.
- Sound effects: You can use them as much as you like, I used public domain ones taken from the Internet, and the few I recorded myself I don't mind if you use them as well.
- Tilesets: Yes, with the conditions stated above.
- Object sprites: Yes, with the conditions stated above.
- Character sprites, portraits, busts, CGs: Not as they are. You can edit them or use them as a base, but they have to look like different characters.
- Key and button input graphics: They're not mine, they're Kenney's (so yes, you can, because they're free).
Generally, anything that looks obviously from my game and story you can't use for an unrelated game. I don't mind if you look at my assets for inspiration and then make your own (that's how we all learn!), I don't need credit for that.
Can I use your plugins for my game?
Yes. The conditions are in the help of each plugin, check them in case you need to credit someone else in addition to me.
Can I sell merchandising of your characters? Or take commissions?
(This isn't gonna happen, but just in case, lol).
Yes, but with a limit. I don't mind if you make a small print run of keyring charms or buttons with fanart of my game (just fanart, not literally my assets printed), or if someone commissions you a drawing of a character. But have in mind that this is a free game and I'm not earning anything, so I wouldn't love it if you earned a lot at my expense.
If you sell something physical that meets all those standards, the only additional condition is that you send me a copy too :)
Can I do gameplays on Twitch, YouTube, etc.?
Yes. I don't mind if they're monetized.
Can I make a wiki?
I think that would be my dream come true.
Translations
Can I translate your game to another language?
Yes! Contact me via email and I will send you all the relevant files. It'd be ideal if you knew Spanish, but if not, at least it's mandatory that you know English. I won't accept translations from any other versions.
I warn you that even if I don't know your language and I will never be 100% sure of the translation's quality, I'm very nitpicky and I will ask for seriousness and responsibility. Don't apply to this if you're not commited to doing it to the best of your ability. Besides, I will give you lots of information and I will answer any questions you have about any context because I'm very annoying and I want it to turn out good.
That said, if you need to leave the project it's completely fine, I only ask you to tell me so I can leave it to someone else that may offer to do it.
Will it be available in [whatever language]?
If no one does it for free, no. I only speak Spanish, English and Japanese (and the last one very poorly). I can't afford to pay anyone to translate it to any other language.
Can I adapt your game to a different dialect of a language that is already available?
You certainly can. I can help you so you can edit the files and apply them to your local copy, and you can distribute it around. But I'm not going to add it officially: there will be just one dialect per language, otherwise it could go out of control very easily.
Lore
Where can we ask you about lore?
Via email or social media, I'll always be happy to reply. If I receive many questions I may open a dedicated Tumblr blog, in which case I will link it here (but for now, you can ask me in my Tumblr art blog). I may edit this section to include what I consider interesting.
By the way, if you ask me via email I may post the question (anonymously) so other people can see my response.
Is it true that you named your game and characters in that way only because it's about butch x femboy?
Yes. It's called commitment to the bit.
